Alkali Flats return, yo

July 10 at the Bike Kitchen. Once again, we have an awesome show for you. Alkali Flats, who had their ‘last show’ at the Bike Kitchen last year, are back and better than ever, and they’re bringing Mae McCoy and Neon Stars. Come down, have some beer and wear your dancing shoes. Party at starts at 6, music at 7.

May’s Featured Artist… BAO NGUYEN of Hard Luck Tattoo (Lodi).

Bao Nguyen was born in 1975 and immigrated from Vietnam in 1980. After spending a year in a refugee camp in Cambodia, his family moved to the states (Detroit) in ’81. After living in Michigan for 6 months, Bao and his family settled in Sacramento.

Bao Started tattooing in 1999 with guidance from Chris Aguilar and George Totten. His main Influences include N K Collins, Yoshihito Nakano, Mike Malone, Ed Hardy, Lee Hanna and Eric Hogan.

Come meet Bao and check out his his amazing paintings on May 9th during our HUNT THE GRID party, sponsored by New Belgium Brewery.

Ready yourselves folks. May’s Second Saturday is going to blow your minds. SBK will be hosting our first annual bicycle scavenger hunt on May 9, with an afterparty sponsored by New Belgium. Come enjoy an excellent ride about midtown, music by local bands, and beer by New Belgium Brewing. $10 per person, teams of 2, 3 and 4. Radical prizes for the top 5 teams.

**Be sure to bring a digital camera or camera phone! You’ll need to take a couple pictures.

Another Incredible Party!

This month’s party was definitely the most successful to date. A big, giant, humongous THANK YOU to:

Poplollys for putting the cow in Cowtown
Nick York & Chris Fairman for the hot licks
Vagas Hawk for showing her awesome paintings
Max and Jim Hines for showing off their gorgeous metalwork
SacPress for the free Mochii Yogurt
Crucial Times Couriers for lugging the party supplies across town
Two Rivers Cider for the best cider evar

And of course all of the volunteers, specifically those that helped with the planning, setup, and cleanup. 2nd Saturday in March brings us our first shot at live music at our new location. Come join us for the sweet country songs of the Poplollys and Nick York and Chris Fairman. There’ll be awesome live music, plenty of beer, and a shop full of awesome folks.

Saturday March 14. Party starts at 6, music starts at 8.

Thank you so much to everyone who came out! Thank you to Masullo Pizza for the pizza, Brad Gleed for the beer, James Anderson and Jeremy Pearson for the music, and Sarah, Michelle, Dawnie, Tim, Ryan, Satapana, David, Danielle, Scott, John B, John G, Rose, and anyone else I might be forgetting for volunteering time and making this party possible! Thank you to the volunteers who kept the shop open all day and manned the mobile fixery at the race. We made almost enough to pay rent for another month, which means we’ll be here at least through April…

Thank you again, and don’t forget about next 2nd Saturday when we’ll have the Poplollys and more playing live!

KXTV News 10 came down to the shop last night and did a story on the Sacramento Bicycle Kitchen as part of their AMGEN coverage. They got our hours wrong (we’ll likely be open from noon until late on Saturday). Thanks KXTV!
