DIY Shops

We are by no means the first to come up with the idea of a Do-It-Yourself bike shop. Here are some others.

University of BC Bicycle Kitchen
We are a non-profit business owned by the AMS Bike Co-op and have been around since 1998. We have grown from a space not quite big enough for 2 people into a full service non-profit bike shop. Our goal is to help make bicycles more accessable to everyone, and to make sure people know all the options that are availible to them.

Davis Bike Church
The Bike Church is located over by The Domes and is part of the Sustainable Research Area on the UC Davis campus. Their purpose is to give the community a low-cost resource that provides the knowledge and tools necessary to maintain and repair their various forms of human-powered transportation, such as Bicycles. They have new and used bikes, parts, and accessories for donation along with tools and advice on how to fix your bicycle so you can get back to bicycling. The Church is non-profit and operated by volunteers.

Santa Cruz Bike Church
The Bike Church can help you get ready for a long tour or a cross-town commute. You can learn to fix flats, build and true wheels, adjust shifting and brakes.

San Francisco Bicycle Kitchen
The SF Bike Kitchen is a cooperative, do-it-yourself bike repair shop. They provide all the tools and parts you need to fix or build a bicycle. Their staff of volunteer mechanics is available to give advice and answer questions.

Los Angeles Bicycle Kitchen
The LA Bicycle Kitchen/La Bici Cocina is a cooperatively-run bicycle Culture and repair space dedicated to improving the lives of Angelinos through environmental justice, cultural awareness, community and youth outreach using the bicycle as it's tool. We offer what no other bike shop can offer in the greater Los Angeles area: A safe space for cyclists from all walks of life to repair their bicycles, meet other cyclists, enrich their lives through bicycle awareness and find new outlets for bicycle culture.
