In June a team of Sacramento Bicycle Kitchen volunteers, along with thousands of other cyclists, will be riding bicycles 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles. We’re riding to raise money for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, which provides the critical services and education needed to meet the growing needs of our community.
We ride to raise awareness and knowledge about HIV/AIDS among participants, their donors, and the general public. We ride because—in the current economy—our agencies need these funds more than ever. Ultimately, we ride so that someday, we won’t have to.
There are 12 of us participating in the ride, and each rider needs to raise $3,000 to participate. So far we’ve raised over $10,000, but are shy of our $36,000 goal. We are asking community members to donate whatever they can to help us raise awareness and funds for HIV/AIDS. We will be hosting a series of fundraisers between now and June, and are looking for sponsorships from local businesses.
The Sacramento Bicycle Kitchen is a non-profit, volunteer-run DIY bike shop that has operated in Sacramento since 2006.
