Our New Shop in Midtown

1915 I St floor planIt has been a long time coming but we have finally found a new (and much improved) space for the shop. We just signed the year-long lease with an option to extend and are looking forward to putting some work into getting it in shape. This will be such a great space for us and there really isn’t much to do. There is approx 1200 sq. ft. in all leaving us with a ton of room to move about. Check out the floor plan of the first floor to the left (we get everything with lines through it). It has a huge garage door that we’ll likely use as the primary entrance. It is very centrally located in the heart of midtown at: 1915 I Street.

Here is a map:

There are really too many features to list. It even has a built in compressor! Well, it might not be a working compressor but we’ll try to restore it to it’s full glory if possible.

We are planning a grand opening in early January so stay tuned.

Thanks John G. and Gina D. for making this possible!

BTW, if you want to send us anything in the mail please continue to use our PO Box.

Congrats! I’m looking forward to checking out the new space. Though I must admit I misread the address as 915 I the first time through, and I was wondering how you’d managed to convince city hall to lease you some space.

    1. When may I begin bringing donations?

    2. What labor may I provide to put the shop in working order?

    3. Why can’t we move into City Hall? Kevin was able to get in? that was even before the election.

  4. Scott says

    1. Depending on the type of donation, now! We prefer only tools, cash, and other “fixtures” right now but soon we’ll open that up to working bikes and parts.
    2. Come to the meeting tonight at 6pm. We’ll be talking about what we need to do to get this place open.
    3. Do you know any security guards?

We aren’t open quite yet. We’re trying to get everything organized with volunteers to cover all shifts. We’re hoping to be open Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, so drop a line: volu@sacbikekitchen.org if you think you could come in and help out one of those days. We look forward to seeing you!
